Gold Star

The producer behind the board

Ari Goldberg makes the whole thing go.

Producer first. Comedy-builder always. Performer when somebody hands him a character with a suspiciously specific name.
Ari Goldberg, founder of The Gold Star Network

Producer · Builder · Funny Person

Eight years behind the mic—and behind everything else.

Ari Goldberg has spent eight years producing comedy podcasts, building the entire in-house podcast network at Improv Asylum in Boston from scratch. Ten-plus shows, a release calendar, and a full production pipeline: all his.

Along the way, he spent a decade at Improv Asylum in nearly every role there is. He ran the training center that put more than 400 students a year through class, managed the box office, ran tech for live shows, produced the national tour That’s So Jewish, launched a comedy trolley tour of Boston, and co-founded SlapSchtick—an all-Jewish sketch and improv revue built around the holidays.

The Gold Star Network is Ari’s own operation: the shows, the production chops, and the eye for who’s funny, built as its own thing.

The performing, for the record, is gravy. Ari also plays Grant Lincoln on Crews Control and Chip Silver on The Late Night Power Hour.

Where the name comes from

A small reward with a lot behind it.

A gold star is what a teacher gives a kid for doing something well. Here, it’s a little celebration of work done with care. It’s also a super subtle nod to Ari’s last name, did you get it?
